Pandora’s Light Box highlighted the potential to focus on verbal description as the creative experience, not an added service. This approach inspired a series of tours described from particular expert positions. Juliana Capes and Ken Cockburn led a very wet poetry tour of the Royal Mile, an architect described the Museum of Scotland and ceramicist Frances Priest led a walk in Leith describing surprising details of architecture and ornamentation.
On a different project, I joined a tour led by a cleaner of a historic house. She described to us how she moved through some rooms in her stocking soles, having to first remove her shoes and the varying frequency for dusting different book cases. This led to our speculations on the value of the objects in the rooms and imagine the ones she is never allowed to dust.
