Let Loose offers a series of artist-led workshops exploring text in art.LETLOOSE LOGO

A loop system will be available and an electronic notetaker will support all sessions.

Workshops are free and refreshments will be provided.

Jan 29 Visual Art

Quaker Meeting House
10.30 – 12.30

Kate Temple is an artist and theatre designer. Kate often uses text in her own artwork and is currently creating a text that will be performed within a sculptural installation. She will introduce her work then lead a practical collage workshop using a variety of instruction manuals, surrealist games and cut-up techniques.

March 5 Performance

Quaker Meeting House
10.30 – 12.30

Greg Sinclair is a performer and musician. His recent theatre performance at the Arches in Glasgow I Do, Do I was developed from instructions given to him by primary school children. Greg will talk about this work and its development from fluxus instruction scores. We will then develop our own instructions as artworks.

April 2 Language

Dunbar’s Close Garden
10.30 – 12.30

Ken Cockburn is a poet who regularly works in the landscape to inspire and place his work. Following a reading of poems, we will use Dunbar’s Close as a stimulus for guided writing activities, considering plants, paths, views, season and weather. Working together we will make a written portrait of the garden.

May 14 Games and Choreography

Quaker Meeting House
10.30 – 2pm

Led by Anthony Schrag and choreographers Lucy Boyes. Anthony is a performance artist and has led several Let Loose word games workshops. Lucy and Robbie are Highland-based choreographers working across diverse projects in performance and participation. The workshop will begin with Anthony’s word games, developing into playful movement and choreography.
